A batch of QSZ submersible axial flow pumps and QSH submersible mixed flow pumps has completed production and inspection. The units are now being packed and prepared for shipment to the customer’s project site.

The series covers a power range of 7.5–55 kW and a flow capacity of 260–2,880 m³/h. These pumps are designed for agricultural irrigation, municipal flood drainage, water conservancy projects and other large-volume water-transfer applications.

Pre-Shipment Inspection and Packaging

Before packing, the pump model, nameplate data, rated power, voltage, frequency, cable length and supplied accessories should be checked against the order requirements. The pump body, fasteners, cable outlet and mounting components are also inspected before dispatch.

QSZ and QSH pumps generally have relatively large dimensions and considerable weight. Their packaging must therefore protect the equipment against impact, movement, moisture and component loosening during loading and long-distance transportation.

A secured base, moisture-resistant materials and suitable external packaging help protect the pump during road transport, sea freight and on-site lifting.

Difference Between QSZ and QSH Pumps
QSZ Submersible Axial Flow Pump

A QSZ axial flow pump moves water mainly in the direction of the pump shaft. It is generally used for high-flow and low-head operating conditions.

Typical applications include farmland irrigation, municipal stormwater discharge, drainage of low-lying areas, aquaculture circulation and water transfer between rivers, canals or reservoirs.

When a project must move a large quantity of water within a limited time and the total system head is relatively low, an axial flow pump is often considered first.

QSH Submersible Mixed Flow Pump

A QSH mixed flow pump produces both axial and radial water movement. Compared with a typical axial flow pump, it is more suitable for duties requiring high flow at a moderately higher head.

Common applications include water conservancy pumping stations, industrial cooling-water circulation, canal transfer, agricultural irrigation and municipal drainage.

How to Select a High-Flow Submersible Pump

A QSZ or QSH pump should not be selected according to motor power or outlet diameter alone. The first step is to confirm the required flow rate and total dynamic head.

Total head should include the vertical water-level difference, pipe friction and local losses caused by valves, elbows, fittings and outlet structures.

The following information is normally required:

  • Required flow rate in m³/h
  • Total dynamic head in metres
  • Pumped liquid and solid content
  • Voltage, frequency and phase
  • Minimum operating water level
  • Installation depth and structure
  • Outlet pipe diameter
  • Daily operating hours and starting frequency

For very-high-flow and low-head duties, a QSZ axial flow pump may be suitable. When the project requires high flow with a moderately higher head, a QSH mixed flow pump should be evaluated. Final selection must be verified using the pump performance curve and actual system resistance.

Installation Conditions Matter

Pump performance is also influenced by the intake structure, minimum submergence, incoming water flow and discharge-pipe arrangement. Poor inlet conditions may cause vortices, vibration, noise or insufficient flow.

The pumping-station structure and installation method should therefore be confirmed during the project design stage. The pump must maintain the specified submerged depth and should not operate continuously when the water level is too low or the inlet is obstructed.
